How It Works

This page covers everything, from installing M-Agent to using each feature. Each section explains what the feature is, exactly where to find it, and what it does for you. Follow the sections in order the first time you set up.

A note on where things live

Almost every setting in M-Agent sits in one of two places. From the home screen, the bottom navigation has Home, T History, and Settings.

Tapping Settings opens the Settings screen, which holds your account and the ways to reach us. Inside that screen, App Settings holds everything that controls how M-Agent behaves.

Tapping T History opens your records, and that screen has its own bottom navigation with T History, Analytics and Reports, and Manage History.

Installing M-Agent

What this is

M-Agent is available only on the Google Play Store. This keeps you safe from modified or fake versions of the app.

Steps

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your phone.
  2. Search for M-Agent MoMo Agent Tool.
  3. Confirm the developer name reads RANDY TECHS before installing.
  4. Tap Install and wait for the download to finish.
  5. Open the app.

Why it matters

Installing from Play means every update reaches you automatically and you are always running a version Google has scanned.

Creating Your Account

What this is

The first time you open M-Agent you are taken through a short welcome and then asked to create your account. You can fill in the form yourself, or use your Google account and skip most of it.

Steps

  1. Open M-Agent for the first time.
  2. Read the welcome screen and tap Continue.
  3. On the sign up screen, enter your name.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Enter your phone number if you want to. This field is optional.
  6. Select your region.
  7. Create a password.
  8. Enter a referral code if another agent gave you one. This field is optional.
  9. Tick the box to agree to the terms.
  10. Tap Sign Up.

The faster way

At the bottom of the sign up screen is Continue with Google. Tap it, choose your Google account, and M-Agent fills in your name, email and profile picture for you. There is no password to create and nothing else to type.

What you gain

Your account carries your profile, your region, and your own referral code, which you can find later under Settings, Account Profile.

Next

Once you are in, set up Smart Navigation and map your SIM slots before serving your first customer.

Smart Navigation

What this is

Smart Navigation is what lets M-Agent move through the menu on your behalf. Instead of you tapping each option and typing each field, M-Agent follows the steps for you and stops at the PIN screen so you can finish the transaction yourself.

It runs on Android's accessibility service. M-Agent uses that service for one purpose only: reading the menu prompt that is currently on your screen and responding to it. It does not read your other apps and it does not collect anything from your phone.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. Smart Navigation

Steps

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings in the bottom navigation.
  2. Tap App Settings.
  3. Under Smart Navigation, find Accessibility Service and turn the toggle on.
  4. Your phone opens its own Accessibility settings.
  5. Find M-Agent in the list and turn it on.
  6. Confirm when your phone asks you to allow the service.
  7. Return to M-Agent. The Status line should now read Active.

What you gain

  • Transactions run at the same speed every time regardless of how busy you are.
  • You stop losing transactions to a missed tap or a screen that closed too early.
  • You stop memorising short codes, because M-Agent knows which one to use.

Important

This service is required. Without it M-Agent cannot navigate anything. Some phones switch accessibility services off after a restart or after clearing recent apps. If M-Agent stops working, check this first. The Help page covers the settings that prevent it.

Seamless Mode

What this is

While M-Agent works through the menu, the phone's own menu screens flash on and off. It works, but it looks busy, and customers watching over the counter find it confusing.

Seamless Mode hides those flashing screens behind a single Processing Transaction overlay. The work happens the same way underneath. You just see one clean screen until it is done.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. Seamless Mode

Directly under the Accessibility Service card.

Steps

  1. Tap Settings in the bottom navigation.
  2. Tap App Settings.
  3. Find Seamless Mode and turn the toggle on.

What you gain

  • A calmer screen in front of the customer.
  • Less chance of tapping something by mistake while the menu is running.

Transaction Verification

What this is

Transaction Verification is what puts a status on every record without you doing anything. It watches for the confirmation message from the network and files the transaction as Attempted, Pending, Successful, or Failed.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. Transaction Verification

Steps

  1. Tap Settings, then App Settings.
  2. Find Transaction Verification and tap the toggle.
  3. A permission dialog appears. Allow it.
  4. If you denied this permission before, no dialog will appear. M-Agent will send you to your phone settings instead, where you can grant it manually and then return.

What you gain

  • You know instantly which transactions to follow up on.
  • Disputes with customers are settled by pointing at the record instead of arguing from memory.
  • Closing your books becomes reading a screen instead of matching handwriting against SMS messages.

If a record was not verified automatically

Press and hold the record in T History. M-Agent tries to verify it again. If a matching confirmation is found, the record updates on its own.

If it still cannot be verified, a dialog offers you the option to mark the transaction as Successful yourself.

Records stay locked once verified

A transaction M-Agent has already verified as Successful from a network confirmation cannot be changed manually. This protects a genuine confirmation from being overwritten by mistake.

On privacy

M-Agent checks confirmation messages only to decide whether a transaction succeeded or failed. The content of your messages is never stored, never shared, and never read for any other purpose.

Mapping Your SIM Slots

What this is

M-Agent needs to know which SIM slot holds which network so it dials from the right line.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. MoMo Transaction Management

Steps

  1. Tap Settings, then App Settings.
  2. Scroll to MoMo Transaction Management.
  3. For MTN Mobile Money, select SIM 1, SIM 2, or None.
  4. Do the same for Telecel Cash.
  5. Do the same for AirtelTigo Money.
  6. Select None for any network you do not operate.
  7. Scroll to the bottom and tap Save Settings.

What you gain

  • Transactions always dial from the correct line, with no switching between customers.
  • Two networks run from one phone with no reconfiguring in between.
  • Records from every line sit in the same history.

Airtime and EVD SIM Slots

What this is

Airtime transfer is mapped separately from mobile money, because agents often run it from a different line.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. Airtime Transfer Management

Steps

  1. In App Settings, scroll to Airtime Transfer Management.
  2. Select the slot for MTN Airtime.
  3. Select the slot for EVD Airtime.
  4. Select the slot for Telecel Airtime.
  5. Select the slot for AirtelTigo Airtime.
  6. Set any you do not use to None.
  7. Tap Save Settings.

What you gain

  • Airtime and EVD run from the right line without touching your mobile money setup.

Keep Screen Awake

What this is

Stops your screen dimming or switching off while M-Agent is open.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. General

Steps

  1. In App Settings, scroll to General.
  2. Turn Keep Screen Awake on.
  3. Tap Save Settings.

What you gain

  • The screen stays up through a queue of customers without you waking it repeatedly.

App Theme

What this is

Three choices: Light, Dark, and System. System follows whatever your phone is set to. The change applies immediately.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. General
  4. App Theme

Steps

  1. In App Settings, scroll to General.
  2. Under App Theme, tap Light, Dark, or System.

What you gain

  • Dark is easier on the eyes in the evening and lighter on battery on phones with OLED screens.

Resize Input Fields

What this is

The number and amount fields on the home screen are the two you use all day. This setting changes how large the text in them appears, so you can read a number back to a customer at a glance.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. General
  4. Resize Input Fields

Steps

  1. In App Settings, scroll to General.
  2. Tap Resize Input Fields.
  3. A live preview of your real home screen appears.
  4. Drag the slider. The preview updates as you drag.
  5. Tap Save, or Cancel to leave it unchanged.

What you gain

  • Fewer misreads when confirming a number out loud.
  • A layout that suits your eyes and your phone size.

Suggest Numbers

What this is

As you type a number, M-Agent offers numbers you have served before. Suggestions appear once you have typed six characters.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. App Settings
  3. General
  4. Suggest Numbers

Steps

  1. In App Settings, scroll to General.
  2. Turn Suggest Numbers on.
  3. Tap Save Settings.

What you gain

  • Regular customers are served without typing their full number.
  • Wrong number errors drop, because the number was entered correctly once and reused after that.

Running a Transaction

What this is

The home screen is where the work happens. One screen covers every network and every transaction type.

At the top is the Last Transaction banner, showing the number, amount, and type of the transaction you just ran, so you can see where you stand at a glance.

Below it are the number field and the amount field, then the transaction buttons: Cash In, Cash Out, Transfer Airtime, Balance, Commission, Pay To Merchant, EVD and Just4U, and Custom Menu.

Steps

  1. Enter the customer's number, or tap the contact icon above the field to pick it from your contacts.
  2. Enter the amount in cedis.
  3. Read the details back to the customer and confirm them together.
  4. Tap the transaction you want.
  5. M-Agent detects the network from the number and runs the menu.
  6. When the PIN screen appears, M-Agent stops and hands control to you.
  7. Enter your PIN yourself and complete the transaction.
  8. The transaction is saved to your history immediately.

Clearing a field

Clear Number and Clear Amount sit under each field for when you want to wipe one by hand.

What you gain

  • A transaction that used to take a minute of tapping takes seconds.
  • No short codes to remember, because the network is detected from the number.
  • Your PIN stays private. M-Agent never sees it, never stores it, and never enters it.

The Contact Picker

What this is

The contact icon sits directly above the phone number field on the home screen. Tap it to pull a number from your saved contacts instead of typing it.

Steps

  1. On the home screen, tap the contact icon above the Phone Number field.
  2. Grant contact permission the first time.
  3. Search for the customer by name.
  4. Tap the contact. The number fills in automatically.

What you gain

  • Faster service for customers you already have saved.
  • The customer name is stored with the transaction record, so your history reads clearly later.

Ported Numbers

What this is

M-Agent detects the network from the number itself. That works for numbers still on their original network. A ported number belongs to a different network than its prefix suggests, so it needs to be flagged.

Steps

  1. Enter the number as usual.
  2. Tick the box marked Mark this box if number is ported.
  3. Select or confirm the correct network.
  4. Continue with the transaction.

What you gain

  • Ported customers are served on the right network instead of failing on the wrong one.

Telecel Cash Out and Pinning the App

What this is

Telecel Cash Out works differently from every other transaction. The customer completes it on their own phone, not on yours, so the transaction finishes outside M-Agent.

Everything else on Telecel, including Cash In and airtime sales, runs exactly like the other networks and needs nothing special from you.

For Cash Out, M-Agent still handles the record. When the transaction completes, you receive a notification from M-Agent confirming it has recorded and verified it, provided Transaction Verification is turned on.

For this to work reliably, M-Agent needs to stay alive in the background. Pinning the app in your recent apps list stops Android from closing it.

Steps to pin

  1. Open your Recent Apps view.
  2. Find M-Agent.
  3. Tap the lock or pin icon, depending on your phone.

What you gain

  • Telecel transactions are recorded and verified without you watching for them.
  • M-Agent keeps assisting instead of restarting each time your phone clears it.

See the Help page for the battery and autostart settings that go with this.

Transaction History

What this is

Every transaction is recorded automatically. Nothing needs to be written down.

Each record holds the customer name, phone number, amount, transaction type, transaction ID, and date and time. Each one carries a status colour.

Where to find it

  1. Home screen
  2. T History

Steps

  1. Tap T History in the bottom navigation.
  2. Scroll through your records.
  3. Use the search field to find a record by name, number, or amount.

Statuses

  • Attempted

Cancelled manually, or the network dropped before the transaction reached the pending stage.

  • Pending

Processed on your side, waiting for the network to confirm.

  • Successful

    Confirmed by the network.

  • Failed

No confirmation arrived within ten minutes, or the confirmation reported a failure.

Viewing and copying a record

Tap a record to open it. The dialog shows every field for that transaction, and you can copy the customer's number or the transaction ID straight from there.

Retrying a record that was not verified

Press and hold a record that was not verified automatically. M-Agent tries to verify it again. See Transaction Verification for what happens next.

What you gain

  • Your notebook is replaced entirely.
  • Records are available offline, so a dead network does not cut you off from your own history.
  • A number or transaction ID is copied correctly instead of retyped from the screen.

Filtering Your History

What this is

Filters narrow your records down to exactly what you are looking for.

Steps

  1. Open T History.
  2. Tap the filter button in the top right corner.
  3. Under Transaction Type, choose a type or leave it on All Types.
  4. Under Status, choose All, Successful, Attempted, Pending, or Failed.
  5. Under Date Range, choose Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or Pick to set your own dates.
  6. Tap Apply.
  7. Tap Clear All to reset every filter at once.

What you gain

  • Finding one transaction from three weeks ago takes seconds.
  • Checking every pending transaction from today takes two taps.

Analytics and Reports

What this is

A view of how your business is actually performing, built from your own records.

Where to find it

  1. T History
  2. Analytics and Reports

Steps

  1. Tap T History.
  2. Tap Analytics and Reports.
  3. Choose the Transactions tab for counts, or the Amount tab for value.
  4. Choose Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or All Time.
  5. Read the total count and total amount at the top.
  6. Below that, Breakdown groups your activity into Cash In, Cash Out, Services covering Airtime, EVD and Just4U, and Merchant and Agent covering Pay, Deposit and Agent.
  7. Tap any breakdown row to expand it and see each item inside it.

What you gain

  • A clear answer to how today compares with yesterday.
  • The numbers you need to plan float without adding anything up by hand.

Data Retention

What this is

Records are stored on your phone, and over time they take up space. Data Retention sets how long M-Agent keeps them before deleting the oldest ones automatically.

Where to find it

  1. T History
  2. Manage History

Steps

  1. Tap T History.
  2. Tap Manage History.
  3. Under Data Retention, choose 3 Months, 6 Months, or 1 Year.

Choose carefully

Records older than the period you choose are deleted permanently in the background. Because your data is stored on your own device, deleted records cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. If you want to keep records beyond your retention period, export them first.

What you gain

  • Storage stays under control on phones with limited space.
  • You decide how far back your records reach.

Clear Fields After Transaction

What this is

When a transaction moves to Pending, this clears the number and amount fields for you so the next customer can be served immediately. The pending transaction still holds its own details, so nothing is lost by clearing the screen.

This requires Transaction Verification to be turned on, since that is what moves a transaction to Pending in the first place.

Where to find it

  1. T History
  2. Manage History
  3. Transaction

Steps

  1. Tap T History, then Manage History.
  2. Turn Clear Fields After Transaction on.

What you gain

  • No manual clearing between customers during a rush.
  • No risk of sending a second transaction with the previous customer's number still sitting in the field.

Lock Protection and Guard Password

What this is

Your history and analytics show your entire business. Lock Protection puts a guard password in front of your History, your Analytics and Reports, and the Manage History screen itself, so someone picking up your phone cannot browse them.

Where to find it

  1. T History
  2. Manage History
  3. Lock and Security

Steps

  1. Tap T History, then Manage History.
  2. Under Lock and Security, turn Enable Lock Protection on.
  3. Choose your Lock Type: Device Level or App Level.
  4. If you chose App Level, set your Guard Password.
  5. Under History Session Duration, choose how long History stays unlocked after you authenticate, from 1 hour up to App Close.
  6. To change your Guard Password later, return to this screen and tap Change Guard Password.

Choosing a lock type

Device Level uses your phone's own biometrics or screen lock PIN. It is the quicker option, but anyone who knows your device's lock can get in the same way.

App Level uses a separate Guard Password just for M-Agent. If you forget it, recovery means contacting support, and a small fee applies.

What you gain

  • Your records stay yours, even when someone else is holding your phone.

Export and Import History

What this is

Your history can be saved to a file and restored later. This is how you move your records to a new phone or keep a copy somewhere safe.

Exported files are protected. If a file is altered after it is exported, M-Agent will refuse to import it. That means a tampered file cannot be used to put false records into your history.

Where to find it

  1. T History
  2. Manage History
  3. Data Management

Steps to export

  1. Tap T History, then Manage History.
  2. Under Import and Export T-History, tap Export History.
  3. Your phone's storage browser opens.
  4. Choose the folder where you want the backup saved.
  5. Confirm.

Steps to import

  1. Tap Import History.
  2. Navigate to the folder holding your exported file.
  3. Tap the file.
  4. If the file passes the integrity check, choose Merge to add these records to what you already have, or Replace to swap your current history for the file.
  5. Confirm.

Keep your file safe

Exported files contain your full transaction history in readable form. Store them somewhere only you can reach.

What you gain

  • Your records survive a phone change.
  • You keep a copy outside the phone in case something happens to it.
  • Records you want to keep past your retention period are safe.

Building a Custom Menu

What this is

If there is a workflow you run often that M-Agent does not cover by default, you can build it yourself. Once saved, it runs like any built in transaction.

Where to find it

  1. Home screen
  2. Custom Menu

Steps

  1. On the home screen, tap Custom Menu.
  2. If you have no menus yet, tap Create Custom Menu. Use the same button to add another later.
  3. Enter a name. This name becomes the button you tap later, so make it something you will recognise on a busy day.
  4. Choose the flow type.
  5. Enter the details for that flow type, as described below.
  6. Choose the SIM slot this menu should dial from.
  7. Tap Save.

Standard flow

Use this when the workflow is a short code followed by a series of menu choices. Enter the short code, then enter the sequence that should run after it.

Separate each step in the sequence with a hyphen.

While building the sequence, use the number button and the amount button to drop in the customer's number and the transaction amount. Those fields are filled in at the moment of the transaction, not now.

Direct flow

Use this when the whole thing is dialled in one string with no menu steps afterwards, for example a code that already contains the number and ends in a hash. Enter the full dial string and use the number and amount buttons where those values belong.

What you gain

  • Any workflow specific to your business runs as fast as the built in ones.
  • Long menu sequences stop being typed by hand.

Editing or Deleting a Custom Menu

Steps

  1. Go to the home screen where your custom menu button appears.
  2. Press and hold the button.
  3. A dialog appears with Edit and Delete.
  4. Choose the one you want.

Your Account Profile

What this is

Your profile holds your account name, email address, profile picture, region, referral code, account identifier, and the date you registered.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. Account Profile

Steps

  1. Tap Settings in the bottom navigation.
  2. Tap Account Profile.
  3. Tap Change Profile to update your picture.
  4. Sign Out sits at the bottom of the same screen.

Reaching Support

What this is

Contact Support opens a WhatsApp chat with our support line so you can describe the problem directly.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. Contact Support

Steps

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Contact Support.
  3. WhatsApp opens with our number ready.
  4. Describe what is happening, and include your phone model and network if the problem is technical.

Joining the Community Hub

What this is

The M-Agent Community Hub is our WhatsApp channel. It carries new feature announcements, updates, bug fix notes, and community news.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. Join WhatsApp Channel

Steps

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Join WhatsApp Channel.
  3. Choose Join On This Device to open the channel in WhatsApp on the phone you are holding.
  4. Choose Use Another Device to show a link and QR code you can open somewhere else.

What you gain

  • You hear about new features when they ship rather than stumbling on them.
  • You get told when something is broken and when it is fixed.

Making a Suggestion

What this is

A direct line for ideas. If there is something M-Agent should do that it does not, this is where you say so.

Where to find it

  1. Settings
  2. Make a Suggestion

Steps

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Make a Suggestion.
  3. Write your idea in the box.
  4. Tap Submit Suggestion.

What happens next

We read them. A good number of the features in M-Agent today started as a message from an agent.
